Lego Skills Builder

A real house, recreated brick by brick in a digital LEGO model, then built in real plastic.

01What it does

Lego Skills Builder is a working method for turning a real building into a LEGO model that can actually be built. It starts from photographs and measurements of a real house and works toward a brick-accurate model in BrickLink Studio.

The model is generated from a script rather than placed by hand, so every change is repeatable. Each round collects notes, rebuilds the model, and checks fresh renders against the photos. The house reached its final design on the 49th version: 12,308 parts in 379 lots, with full interiors on both floors, an attic, a lift-off second floor and roof, and hinged roof sections.

Along the way it has become a technique library: wall texture from mixed colors, sampling real colors into the LEGO palette, hinged plate roofs and valleys, wedge geometry, railings and arches, structural checks so the floors hold up in real plastic, and part and color checks before anything is ordered.

02Using it

Six photographs of the real house sit beside the model rendered from the same cameras. The videos show the house building up, lifting apart, and changing across every version. Building instructions in six booklets and a staged parts list are done, and every part has been ordered. The physical build is next.
